OneBeat 9

In her research, pioneering musician Pauline Oliveros, described the tendency for contemporary culture to prioritize visual over aural spheres—even in our imagination.  As a new fellowship of OneBeat artists comes together, we will ask them to explore the sound of imagination and prioritize their “mind’s ear”, a distinctive under-researched form of self-knowledge and possibility.  This is a unique moment in time that has many emerging from pandemic isolation while others recede into new forms of isolation caused by conflict and threats to free expression.  OneBeat Fellows will enter spaces of collaboration that allow their aural imaginations to freely share diverse perspectives and imagine new sonic futures together.
