Branimir Norac

Branimir Norac is a Zagreb-based clarinetist, composer and multi-instrumentalist. Born into a family of musicians, Branimir began music school at age 8 and went on to study at the Zagreb Academy of Music. Outside of performing with major orchestras such as Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and Croatian Chamber Orchestra, Branimir has taught at a number of music schools including Marija Bistrica Music School and Education Centre Vinko Bek, working specifically with visually impaired and autistic children. He is currently a professor of clarinet at the Music School of Marija Bistrica, while composing, producing and performing his own works which often merge classical, alternative and folklore influences. Branimir is active as a clarinetist in a multimedia trio Norac/Pavičić/Dožić, and also a guitarist in avant-folk/psy-pop band Klinika Denisa Kataneca. He has collaborated with a number of Zagreb musicians to produce a series of durational performances, such as an 11 hour performance Utopia of Extended Now and Here in 2020. In December of 2021 he released a compilation of his solo classical works for piano and clarinet.
