After Now

June – July, 2024

Here we stand, two decades past the emergence of Facebook, and a quarter of a century beyond the inception of Google and the advent of smartphones. Now, we confront a reality shaped by algorithms and AI engines, where significant decisions are driven by machine intelligence. What echoes reverberate through this post-digital landscape? What subtleties and insights lie hidden within its evolving soundscape? And how can we harness these insights to confront the pressing challenges of our era?

The fifth edition of OneBeat Virtual invites us to delve into the priorities and challenges of our present era, navigating pathways within the realms of digital culture and music. This iteration unites a diverse group of 20 Fellows from around the world, fostering collaboration and creativity as we collectively envision potential futures.

Together, we will seek to decode the nuances of our post-digital reality and to channel these insights into creative expressions that resonate with the challenges and aspirations of our time.

SONIC FINGERPRINT

Here is a space to share a sonic sanctuary of your own creation. Begin by observing your cycle of breathing for several minutes. Then create a “fingerprint” that is the length of one cycle of your breath. It can be any sound or collection of sounds that conjure the most genuine reflection of “sanctuary” for you, be it one of nature, politic, spirit, or otherwise.
