Mamoon Yaqoob Abdulhameed, a.k.a. IQ_Kid, is an Al Anbar-based rapper and producer. A graduate of the University of Anbar, Mamoon founded HHU, a hip hop collective and recording studio. Mamoon’s sound is inspired by traditional Arabic music, contemporary electronic, rap and dance, through the lens of his own self-taught production style. Recently, Mamoon teamed up with fellow Anbar rapper Mr. Legendary to release a song raising awareness about COVID-19, a collaboration which involved contributions Arab, Kurd and Assyrian musicians and was sponsored by the United Nations Iraq. Mamoon is an alumni of the U.S. State Department’s American Voices program and is currently working on plans to develop a new community arts space in Anbar.
