Rusina is a vocalist, songwriter, pianist and producer with both Russian and Jewish heritage. Born and raised in Moscow, she simultaneously took a degree in political science and studied jazz vocals – since then, activism and music have walked hand in hand in her life. A thoughtful and versatile songwriter, Rusina has a unique approach to singing in the Slavic style and was a member of the Vetreno Female Quartet, which has worked to preserve the Russian tradition of female collective singing through a modern lens. Through collaborations with international artists ranging from folk to electronic music, she has created musical projects that ask listeners to reflect and meditate on the ideas of homesickness, war, and community.
