Jose Buencamino is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and environmental advocate from the Philippines with an interest in cross-cultural exchange. Often working as a composer for films and dance projects, Jose has also been exploring electronic music in recent projects. Jose’s work draws influences from Filipino traditional music and other musical practices of the Southeast-Asian region, western classical music, contemporary classical music, and electronic music. He has written pieces to raise awareness of the destruction caused by large-scale development projects and dynamite fishing, and is interested in the multi-disciplinary interpretation of local and international art forms. Jose is currently working on a project on the contemporization of a Belarussian spring rite.
