Yustiawan Paradigma Umar is a Javanese Gamelan performer and producer from Sleman, Indonesia. He co-founded Sandikala Ensemble, which focuses on experimental techniques and new gamelan instruments. A composer, art director, and performer, Yustiawan has also been experimenting with various genres, moving between Indian ragas, European avant-garde, Arabic maqam, improvisation in jazz music, and everything in between. Yustiawan wishes to make a positive impact on society through his music, and has made experimental music based on the gamelan to educate the public on the future of Karawitan.
