Tommy WÁ is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter who has served as the primary curator for Sofar Sounds in Accra. In 2022, he was selected as one of 10 out of more than 800 applicants to participate in the fully funded Goethe Talents program. There, he performed live at Pop Kultur alongside fellow talents, as well as performed a solo show at Acud Macht Neu Berlin. He also took part in studio visits, intensive jam sessions, Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs workshops, and did a short traineeship at Staatsakt Records. A multidisciplinary artist, he is passionate about all forms of storytelling and hopes to use the residency at OneBeat Ghana to flesh out his project to flesh out his project “Roadman and Folks”, a musical, textual and photographic exploration intended to serve as a beacon for his immediate community in sub-saharan Africa.
