Accra, Ghana

Agbenorxevi is a poet, rapper, and artist who explores the contemporary reimagination of Hakpanya, an Anlo-Ewe tradition that exists at the intersection of folk music, poetry and spirituality. They are interested in the potential of alternative hip-hop to explore subjects such as sociopolitics, mental health, gender, and queerness in Ghana. They serve as an artistic mentor for Spread Out Initiative and Accra Participatory Group to promote self-expression and healing through art. They are a founding member of the Hakpanya Collective and recently held a residency at Hawuii, a village along the Volta river, to explore the impact of ecological crisis through filmmaking and music.
