Nazim Bakour is an acclaimed Algiers-based composer and multi-instrumentalist. A prolific session player and collaborator, he has toured with Afro-multinational project El Foukr R’Assembly, DJAM, Ifrikya Spirit, Manal Gharbi and more throughout Africa, the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and the United States. Inspired by Sub-Saharan African and West African music, as well as jazz and latin music, Nazim has worked as an educator teaching a wide range of styles in his community. Nazim has also produced a number of albums including with his project GROOVISTAN, which blends traditional Maghrebian music with modern electronic influences, and Alger-Rio, a suite for guitar and mandolin inspired by traditional chaabi, andalusian and Brazilian music.
