A major creative force and a powerful voice for her generation, Egyptian singer-songwriter Maryam Saleh composes and performs music that is personal, political and philosophical; intense, intelligent Egyptian music with Arabic language and influences of trip hop and psych rock. Maryam is the co-founder of the bands Jawaz Safar and Baraka, and has collaborated extensively with seminal Lebanese producer Zeid Hamdan. As an actress, Maryam has starred in a number of theatrical productions including Laila Soliman’s Lessons in Revolution and short films such as Ibrahim El-Batout’s A Shams (2008) and Mona Farkha’s A Tin Tale (2011).
