Fascinated by city noise and Arabic music, Lebanese musician Abed Kobeissy approaches Beirut’s urban soundscapes a source of endless inspiration. The sound of Abed’s processed Buzuq and drum machine, combined with the musician’s background in traditional Arabic music, reconfigures Beirut’s energy over hyper-realistic soundscapes. In addition to being an accomplished performer and educator, Abed composes scores for contemporary dance and theater productions, in collaboration with Lebanese percussionist Ali el-Hout.
