Andrea Hoyos is a Bogotá-based pianist and singer-songwriter. A graduate of Bogotá’s Pontifica Universidad Javeriana music program, Andrea is an accomplished performer and improviser. The bandleader of two ensembles, Cachicamo and Balandra, her imaginative compositions mix a range of influences Latin folk, to minimalism, cumbia, afrobeat and hip hop. “There’s so much wisdom within music that can be used to create harmony and peace among all human beings,” says Andrea. “Music should always be about sharing, not about competing.”
