A group of students at the University of Michigan have crowd-funded the first festival devoted soley to Morin Khuur in the US. Intended to share Mongolian music and promote cultural exchange, the festival was made possible by support from the University’s Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies as well donors from around the country. The two day festival included performances by some of Mongolia’s most accomplished Morin Khuur players (including in to perform, including Jigjiddorj, as well as panel discussion, lectures and intimate demonstrations of the traditional instrument.
