Meet the 2017 Fellows

We’re thrilled to announce this year’s 25 OneBeat 2017 Fellows. For our sixth iteration of the OneBeat program in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State, we’ve selected adventurous artists from over 1200 applicants worldwide, comprising 17 countries, from Brazil to Jordan to Kazakhstan to Zimbabwe. This year’s fellows include South African vocalist Nonku PhiriAisaana Omorova, a komuz (traditional three-stringed strummed instrument) player from Kyrgyzstan; Chicago-based producer Elijah Jamal; and Belarusian producer and singer Natallia Kunitskaya.

These Fellows will convene September 20th and spend two weeks at the Pacific Northwest’s Caldera Arts Center near Sisters, Oregon. After an intensive residency spent creating original music and developing exciting new global projects, the Fellows will embark on a socially-engaged performing and educational tour across the Mountain West and Great Plains, stopping in Boise, Idaho, Jackson, Wyoming, and Fort Collins, Colorado. More details about our tour schedule and events coming soon!
