Soumia Ghechami is a talented young guitarist from Batna, who is influenced by both traditional Algerian music and Western genres such as jazz, pop, and rock. She has built up an impressive following by posting performances on her YouTube channel and actively collaborates online with a host of artists including Moroccan producer Abdous and French guitarist/producer Elio Germani. As a female guitarist in a male-dominated music scene, Soumia uses her platform to inspire and empower women and girls in Algeria, and offers music lessons to young beginners both in person and online. Soumia has also performed alongside a number of Algerian and French groups including IRFM Batna Orchestra, IWAL, JATRIZZ, and Nassim Djezma.
