Pavithra Chari is an accomplished classical and cross-genre vocalist and composer based in New Delhi. She is a certified expressive arts-based therapist and Bharatnatyam dancer, and currently works with organizations that combine life skills education with music to address trauma, sexual health, and self-expression. As one half of contemporary classical duo Shadow and Light, Pavithra has written and released three studio albums, toured extensively (including major festivals) in India, Sri Lanka and the US, collaborated with the Berklee Indian Ensemble and participated in Red Bull Music Academy’s Studio Science programming. As a performing artist, Pavithra has raised money for charity and brought attention to crucial social issues including: human rights violations in Darjeeling, support for stray animals and abandoned pets in Delhi and support for the LGBTQ community, and music education for underprivileged and at-risk youth.
