Minela Bogdanovic is a singer, tambura player, and pianist from Vranje, Serbia, fluent in many styles ranging from traditional balkan forms to jazz and pop. She specializes in the ikanje vocal style, native to the ethnically Sop villages in the mountains of Serbia and Macedonia. As part of the world-renowned Ensemble Macedonia, Minela has traveled to Japan to teach and perform traditional music, hosting events throughout Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Minela also performed with the musical theater piece Macedonian Blood Wedding and has appeared on a number of television shows in Macedonia and Serbia. She co-leads two bands, the funk-forward pop band Black Whites, and the Flamenco-influenced duo AnaMina.
