José Gavilondo is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, photographer, and visual artist based in Havana, Cuba. Having studied music from a young age, he has built an impressive catalogue of original contemporary music, including compositions for small and large ensembles, symphony orchestras, and numerous cross-disciplinary collaborations. He is an experienced improviser and arranger, working within a diversity of styles in his band Ensemble Interactivo de La Habana. In addition, he plays piano and keys in several ensembles, including the prominent Afro-Cuban progressive rock band Sintesis. Coming from an eclectic artistic family, José is dedicated to working within many different forms, from classical music to circus arts to improvisational dance, and to pushing the boundaries of creation in that art.
