Jimmy Chong is a Kuala Lumpur-based percussionist and sound designer. Beginning his career as the drummer of the Malaysian post-punk indie band “”NAO””, Jimmy went on to study traditional Western and Asian drum techniques at International College Of Music (ICOM) and joined up with the acclaimed ensemble HANDS, where he learnt a great deal of Far Eastern drumming and incorporated Western drumming techniques into the ensemble’s rigorous routines. His tenure with HANDS led him to perform in France, Hawaii, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and Turkmenistan. Jimmy also engages in experimental and avant garde music and works as a composer for theater and installation projects.
