Jennifer Meza Mayorga (aka Jenn del Tambó) is a virtuosic and award-winning percussionist from Barrancabermeja, Colombia. She started her musical training at a young age and is dedicated to the art of traditional music of Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Jenn works tirelessly to develop projects supporting community and women’s empowerment, and is an outspoken advocate for women’s rights and gender equality through the Tamboreras Network of Colombia and Suiza. Jenn is also the founder of Red de Tamboreras, an all-female collective of percussionists in her hometown. In 2011, Jenn was awarded the best performer of the Tambor Alegre in the XXVII edition of the National Festival of Gaitas, and became the first woman to win in the history of the event. She currently performs live in Barranquilla-based singer and poet Orito Cantora’s band.
