Houyem Ghattas is a Tunis-based vocalist and violin player. She began to learn violin at the age of 8 and later attended the Higher Institute of Music in Tunis, were she obtained a masters degree. She participated in different master classes in Tunis, and obtained scholarships for classical music training in France (Lyon), Germany (Munster), and for jazz music In Belgium (Les lundis d’Hortense). She has become a highly sought-after session musician, collaborating with singer-songwriters in a diversity of styles, including jazz, folk and traditional music. She has performed on numerous acclaimed albums, television performances and live radio broadcasts, and has toured extensively throughout Tunisia, performing at the Tabarka Jazz Festival, International festival of Hammamet, International festival of Jerba, and other widely recognized festivals.
