LADAMA announced a partnership with TeachRock, an organization that designs open-source curriculum for teachers and students. The band, made up of 2014 alumni Sara Lucas (USA), Daniela Serna (Colombia), Mafer Bandola (Venezuela), and Lara Klaus (Brazil) was asked to create five lesson plans for students in grades K-6 focused on music of South America combined with the pedagogical approach that LADAMA has developed and used in classrooms and workshops all over the world.
In a statement, the band said “Using Quitiplás, Cumbia, Ciranda, Joropo and the music of ChocQuibTown, we hope to connect with students across the Americas as they explore and learn about the rhythms, dance, song and cultures of Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil.” Read more about the course here.
