Yasel Muñoz is a virtuosic flutist and multi-instrumentalist from Holguín, Cuba. He is a graduate of The University of Arts in Havana, where he earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Flute and Ensemble Practices and Music Composition. Yasel’s education has been instrumental in shaping his eclectic musical style, which encompasses a blend of experimental, jazz, traditional Cuban music, and global influences.
Yasel’s approach to music is deeply rooted in Cuban folk and popular traditions, with a strong emphasis on improvisation. His work as a solo artist reimagines these genres, infusing them with his comprehensive training in classical and contemporary composition. This fusion creates a unique and colorful musical narrative that reflects both local traditions and global values.
In addition to his solo endeavors, Yasel has collaborated extensively with notable groups such as Ensemble Interactivo de la Habana. He is also part of the performance project Caracol Nocturno, founded by OneBeat alumnus Pepe Gavilondo. His involvement in these projects showcases his versatility and ability to adapt to various musical settings.
Beyond his performances, Yasel is committed to music education and community engagement. He has led music workshops for youth and performed at numerous charity concerts throughout Cuba, demonstrating his dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians and giving back to his community.
