Salma Soltan is a Cairo-based darbuka player and percussionist. A student of 2012 OneBeat alumnus Ayman Mabrouk, Salma has collaborated with accomplished Ney player Hany el Badry as well as attended several workshops for the Grammy-award winner Fathy Salama, and performed at major Egyptian festivals including Cairo Jazz Festival and Ethno Cyprus. An adept player on cajon, frame drum, and udu drum, Salma recently participated in an educational music tour for youth in the Nile Delta in which she demonstrated to children how music-making can enrich and transform their lives. Salma aims to empower her local community by creating a network of support and organizing workshops specifically for woman and young girls in her city.
