Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoğlu is a cellist and composer from Istanbul, Turkey who is currently researching Turkish Taksim music at Istanbul Technical University. “I started when i was actually very very young, because in our house my father is a musician. I’m now making my master thesis in the music theory and composition department. I’m writing a thesis about Turkish maqam music. [This] was the first time that i experienced the street studio, and in my neighborhood, actually, in kadikoy. it was also so nice to be there.From sulukule, the young rappers were with us also. They are very very good. And their thoughts, and their anger about urban regeneration…we all live this situation but some people live it so hard. Eva Salina New Album Release
On February 11, Eva released a beautiful new album entitled “Lema Lema: Eva Salina Sings Saban Bajramovic“. Eva has been working on this album for three years, starting it right after her OneBeat experience, and she credits OneBeat for empowering her to make bolder artistic choices, which are reflected in this album. Eva was recently featured on NPR’s Morning Edition, where she talked about her dedication and love for this tradition of music, and her journey in making this album. Eva aims to collaborate with various OneBeat alumni in coming years, and has been talking ideas with Bajram Kinolli, Wael Jegham, and Anna Roberts-Gevalt.
