Mathieu Ruz is a traditional singer specializing in music from Colombia’s Caribbean Coast. While studying foreign languages at his university, Mathieu became enamored with singing and decided to pursue music full-time. A committed researcher and scholar of his region’s oral tradition, Mathieu’s work has earned an international audience. His past performances and awards include: International Festival of Folklore Doina Aiudulu in Aiud, Romania; XXII Summerfest 2015 in Százhalombatta, Hungary; Interetno Folk Festival in Subotica, Serbia; First Prize in Composition in the 2012 and 2016 National Festival of Bullerengue, Colombia, and Best Singer in the 2014 edition of the same Festival.
