Lwandile Nkanyuza (aka ByLwansta) is a Kokstad born rapper, producer, art director and graphic designer. A bilingual MC with a clever lyrical sense and inventive beatmaker, Lwandile is a budding auteur who often directs his own music videos. While away studying graphic design at 19, Lwandile self-released the mixtape NORMVL, which earned accolades from tastemakers worldwide and was nominated for ‘Best Mixtape of the Year’ at the South African Hip Hop Awards. His subsequent releases, Your Absolutely Right EP (2016), and SPIJØNGET (2019) have been met with further praise, attracting reviews from Red Bull Music, Hype Magazine, The Influenced Life and more. “I see music as far more than just aural entertainment,” says Lwandile. “The same way the microphone amplifies the voice, so does music for those who need it.”
