Cinque “Ignabu” Kemp, a Queens, NY native, is a drummer, educator and multi-disciplinary artist with endless interest in arts and athletics. He has produced his own music, and has performed, produced and toured with Macklemore, Flatbush ZOMBiES, Ana Tijoux, Melanie Charles, and more. As a visual artist, his photographs have been featured in New York Winter Jazz Fest’s promotion, Smith & Gale Magazine, and Northside Magazine. Cinque also mentors youth and offers free traditional drumming lessons in his Bushwick neighborhood. He recently contributed to Alabama-born rapper Pink Siffu’s acclaimed album Negro, an outspoken punk and jazz tinged project engaging with issues of racial hostility and black anger. A strong performer with a body of eclectic work, his other collaborations include recordings and performances with Joakin Bouaziz, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Soundtrack 63.
