Bernard Nana Appiah

Bernard Nana Appiah, aka Pure Akan, is a Ghanaian singer and performer who blends indigenous West African rhythms with Twi-language poetry, folklore, and contemporary hip hop. Originally from the picturesque and culturally vibrant region of Kwahu in eastern Ghana, Bernard is a prominent figure in Accra’s live music scene. His performances combine elements of highlife, hiplife, and melodic rap to create a distinctly Ghanaian sound.

Bernard has released several albums as Pure Akan, including Nyame Mma and Onipa Akoma, along with various singles and a live record. He has participated in Sound Lab, a collaborative residency for artists from Ghana and Germany, and has also received support from the British Council.
