Andrew Ryan is an accomplished bass player, vocalist, producer, synth player and arranger from Denver, Colorado. He appears regularly alongside Kaia Kater, Jayme Stone, and Moira Smiley, deftly working among diverse music genres. As part of the improvising chamber ensemble 9 Horses, he has released three critically acclaimed albums, won the 21CM: LAUNCH Emerging Artists Competition, and held numerous academic and creative residencies. He is also a co-founder of Adhyâropa Records, a record label based on an ethical, artist-friendly business model that guarantees artists the rights to their own masters and a substantial share of royalties. He has been involved with Folk Fights Back, an initiative seeking to raise money and awareness for critical issues like immigrant and refugee rights, and Bass Players for Black Composers, a collective of bass players committed to equality in composer representation and equity in compensation.
