Martika Ragan

Songwriter, Vocalist

Washington D.C, United States

Martika Ragan is a Washington D.C-based vocalist and songwriter. Raised as a Jehovah Witness, Martika was only allowed to listen to soul and jazz growing up, gravitating most towards Billie Holiday. Influenced by her childhood records as well as D.C.’s seminal Go-Go scene, Martika’s deep alluring vocals and expressive R&B production has earned her collaborations with well-known artists like Blood Orange and Kojey Radical. Also a creative director, Martika has used her music to raise awareness and support for BIPOC sex workers in collaboration with activist organizations. “Music has been the only constant in my life since I was a child and has saved my life on numerous occasions,” says Martika. “I’m not sure what else I would be doing if it wasn’t this.”
