Diler Özer

Diler Özer is an Istanbul-based performer and scholar. Originally from Aydın, Diler relocated to study mathmatics at Boğaziçi University. While attending school, Diler became deeply involved with Boğaziçi’s Folklore Club and was encouraged to develop her skills as a percussionist. Diler is a co-founder of the multi-disciplinary performance group Kardeş Türküler and active member with the Boğaziçi Performing Arts Ensemble. A doctoral student at the Department of Ethnomusicology at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Diler is currently researching her thesis on the intersection of music, politics and protest in Turkey. She is one of the editors of Kardeş Türküler: 15 Yılın Hikayesi (Kardeş Türküler: The Story of Fifteen Years) and her musical writing has appeared in numerous publications worldwide.
