Hozan Osman is a biziq player currently based in Istanbul. Inspired by the Kurdish folk music of his hometown of Hasaka, Syria, Hozan decided to pursue biziq at Al-Baath University in Homs. When the Syrian Civil War broke out in 2012, Hozan returned to Hasaka to cofound Mitra, a youth-based music institute. Forced again to flee the ongoing conflict, Hozan recently relocated to Istanbul where he began a Kurdish folk ensemble, Danûk, made up of musicians from Syria and Turkey.
